Songs that sing to me
[stm_post_details]My favorite artist this year is Fred again out of London. I don’t remember how I got turned on to him, but his Boiler Room show from July 2022 was what hooked me. Many aspects of his music are beautiful, sad, and uplifting. Still, mostly it’s the creativity of seamlessly blending samples from real-life conversations, artists, poets, street performers, and discussions with friends that makes the music so magical. It is Actual Life put to music. There are too many songs to call out specifically, however, this Boiler Room clip says everything you need to know about the amazing National Treasure of an artist and human.
I hope to meet Fred one day. And when I do, I’m going to tell him the same things he has told me for the last year of listening to him, “We gonna make it through”.
